Madhava Ghore Viyoga Tamasi
Volume 6 Song 32; Prosita Preyasi
(Refrain) mādhava ghore viyoga-tamasi nipapāta rādhā
vidhura-malina-mūrtir adhikam adhirūḍha-bādhā dhruva
Refrain: Her body filled with pain, grief-stricken Radha has fallen, O Madhava, into the terrible darkness of separation from You.
kurvati kila kokila-kule ujjvala-kala-nādam
jaiminir iti jaiminr iti jalpati saviṣādam
Now that with beautiful sweet voices the cuckoos lament, " jaimini jaimini,"
nīla-nalina-mālyam ahaha vīkṣya pulaka-vītā
garuḍa garuḍa garuḍety abhirauti parama-bhītā
When She sees a garland of blue lotuses She mistakes it for a black snake. Frightened, and the hairs of Her body erect, She cries out, " Garuda! Garuda!"
lambhita-mṛga-nābhim aguru-kardamam anu dīnā
dhyāyati śiti-kaṇṭham api sanātanam anulīnā
When She sees musk or aguru, the poor girl thinks the god of love has appeared. To chase him away She becomes rapt in meditation on love's enemy, the peacock.
