(Refrain) sīdati sakhi mama hṛdayam
adhīram yad abhajam iha na hi gokula-vīram
Refrain: Friend, because I did not worship the hero of Gokula my heart is now shattered.
nākarṇayam ati-suhṛd-upadeśam
mādhava-cāṭu-paṭalam api leśam
I did not listen to even a fragment of the advice of my friends or the sweet words of Lord Madhava.
nālokayam arpitam uru-hāram
praṇamantam ́ ca dayitam anuvāram
I did not see my beloved repeatedly bowing down and offering a precious necklace.
hanta sanātana-guṇam abhiyāntam
kim adhārayam aham urasi na kāntam
Why when He approached me did I not hold myself forward to my eternally virtuous lover?
Translation
Refrain: Friend, because I did not worship the hero of Gokula my heart is now shattered.
