Śrī Brahma-saṁhitā

Śrī Brahma-saṁhitā 5.39 [Partially Recorded]

[Distorted]

Prabhupāda:

...nānāvatāram akarod bhuvaneṣu kintu kṛṣṅaḥ svayaṁ samabhavat paramaḥ pumān yo govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi [Bs 5.39]

[I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, who manifested Himself personally as Kṛṣṅa and the different avatāras in the world in the forms of Rāma, Nṛsiṁha, Vāmana, etc., as His subjective portions.]

Rāmādi-mūrtiṣu. Kṛṣṅa has got innumerable expansion. Some of Them are called viṣṅu-tattva, and some of them are called jīva-tattva. He has got innumerable expansions. The viṣṅu-tattva expansion, They are as good as Kṛṣṅa. But jīva-tattva we are jīva-tattva, we are also expansions of Kṛṣṅa, just like the whole human race is expansion of some forefather, Manu. From manu, man. This is also Sanskrit. Manu, man. In Sanskrit, manuṣya, man.

So similarly, the original father, original progenitor, is Kṛṣṅa; and from His expansion there are innumerable. Some of them are called svāṁśa. Svāṁśa means personal expansion. And some of them are vibhinnāṁśa, separated expansions. We are separated expansions, but we are also Kṛṣṅa's expansions.

So Kṛṣṅa appears, rāmādi-mūrtiṣu, as Lord Rāmacandra, as Varāha, as Kūrma, as Nṛsiṁhadeva, as Matsya—so many. Rāmādi-mūrtiṣu kalā-niyamena tiṣṭhan. So He is always existing with so many expansions. None of the expansions are at any time vanquished, they are existing always. We are also existing. After this body also we shall continue to exist. Kṛṣṅa svayaṁ samabhavat paramaḥ pumān yo. But Kṛṣṅa, when He appears, He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi.

So kṛṣṅas tu bhagavān svayam [SB 1.3.28].

[All of the above-mentioned incarnations are either plenary portions or portions of the plenary portions of the Lord, but Lord Śrī Kṛṣṅa is the original Personality of Godhead. All of them appear on planets whenever there is a disturbance created by the atheists. The Lord incarnates to protect the theists.]

In the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, there is list of incarnations. You should read all this, in the Third Chapter, First Volume. And when Kṛṣṅa's name is there, it is said, kṛṣṅas tu bhagavan svayam. Ete camsa kala pumsam kṛṣṅas tu bhagavam svayam. All this list of names, they are expansions of Kṛṣṅa. But this name, "Kṛṣṅa," He is the original Supreme Personality of Godhead. That is the meaning of govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi: "I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord." Hmm. [end]
