Prabhupāda: ...Arjuna said "Yes." In the beginning he said "No," then after learning Bhagavad-gītā he said "Yes." So we have to learn to say "Yes" to Kṛṣṅa or His representative. Then you will be all right. If you say "No," then it is māyā. But you have got the liberty to say "Yes" or "No." [indistinct] If we say "No," then it is our misfortune. If we say "Yes," it is our fortune.
Icchā-dveṣa. What is that verse? Sarge yānti parantapa. You have got icchā and dveṣa—two things there. Icchā means either you have desire for sense gratification or you can desire to serve Kṛṣṅa. And dveṣa means averse. You may not like to serve Kṛṣṅa, or you may not like to serve māyā.
icchā-dveṣa-samutthena sarge yānti parantapa [Bg 7.27]
So we have come here to this material world by two propensities: icchā and dveṣa. Icchā, we wanted to enjoy this material world; and dveṣa, we try to avoid Kṛṣṅa. You see? [break]
icchā-dveṣa-samutthena sarge yānti parantapa
In this way you have come to this material world.
Just like this Pakistan and Hindustan, fighting. Icchā. Icchā is that "I shall enjoy this land." So they're fighting. They do not know that after all, this land does not belong to any one of us; it belongs to Kṛṣṅa. Why should we fight? Better you… Let us be satisfied with whatever Kṛṣṅa has given. But there is no Kṛṣṅa consciousness; therefore they are fighting. Otherwise, Kṛṣṅa has made everything complete.
pūrṅam idaṁ pūrṅam adaḥ pūrṅāt pūrṅam udacyate [Īśopaniṣad, Invocation]
This planet is complete because it is created by Kṛṣṅa. So there cannot be any scarcity, any want. Everything is there. But we are desiring. Such simple dveṣa-samutthena. Dveṣa. We want to enjoy more, therefore I envy you. This is our [indistinct]. This is called material [indistinct].
And we are being carried by this different types of desire, and we are getting different types of bodies. Kṛṣṅa is kind, Lord. Oh, whatever we desire, He supplies it: "All right." Like… But ultimately He says sarva-guhyatamaṁ [Bg 18.64]:
[Because you are My very dear friend, I am speaking to you the most confidential part of knowledge. Hear this from Me, for it is for your benefit.]
"The most confidential part of knowledge I have given to you. Give up all this nonsense and surrender unto Me." So that is all. [end]
